課程概述

本課程將針對以下主題進行探討以及分析
1. 熱帶大氣與環流
2. 熱帶對流傳送
3. 熱帶氣旋之結構
4. 熱帶氣旋之形成與發展
5. 熱帶氣旋之運動

上課方式:
1. 重點天氣現象分析(10~20分鐘)
2. 講課 (70~80分鐘)
3. 未來天氣概論(5~10分鐘)
 

課程目標
To provide students with some important background knowledge on the diagnostic analysis of tropical weather systems. Focus of the talk will be placed on the characteristics of the tropical atmosphere, the bulk effect of tropical convections and the tropical cyclones. Focus will also be placed on the tropical easterly waves and the meso-scale convective systems if the time allows.

1. Class participation – 30%
2. Oral presentation - 40%
3. Term paper – 30% (max. 10 pages, including figure & table). Select either one subject (max 3 papers) or one paper
